Product detailed description
Testing:
- On a stock ECU with OEM software: Gen.1 GR Yaris on ACME's hub dyno returned a 5.9hp gain over the stock airbox, before having time for adaptations!
- On a stock ECU with Stage 1 software and OEM AirBox, at ProfiTuning, once we swapped to the PIRAS Motorsport AirBox we had to reduce our Wastegate Duty Cycle by 8% in order to remain at the same power level: how is that for increase in flow?!?
- On a Syvecs ECU with Stage 1 software, Gen.1 Rally R1T GR Yaris on ACME's hub dyno, working in Speed/Density mode, only by swapping the OEM Airbox to the PIRAS Motorsport unit obtained 7.5hp of power increase, while eliminating the torque dip and showing more power from 5300rpm to 7200rpm. Of course, software adaptation would further increase these numbers.
Test 1: carried out on an OEM Gen.1 GR Yaris and no changes to the electronics. Gains will be larger after the OEM ECU has time to adapt. Testing by ACME Racing on a Hub dyno by Rotronics:

After three years of development, we are proud to bring you our GR Yaris Airbox Intake kit: unique in its design and engineered to current top motorsport specifications, this airbox enables you to use the stock panel filter in order to maintain OEM Service of the car. It is possible to install aftermarket panel filters to obtain even more performance. When combined with an aftermarket panel filter, we found over +6bhp over the stock unit on OEM ECU settings, and further improved performance across the power band on Stage 1&2 EcuTek engine software. The power gains increase with the total engine power output, so results will vary depending on your supporting mods and engine tune.
These results were possible thanks to careful flow analysis, that also led us to re-use the OEM Turbo air intake pipe up to the airbox itself, as larger diameter pipes only lead to loss of air density in all applications under 550bhp, hence more turbo lag and less torque.
Laminar Airflow
PIRAS Motorsport Airbox Intake kit allows for faster spool and fresh air collection, with the most laminar flow of any other solution on the marked, directly feeding air from the front bumper to the stock format (OEM) panel filter, that is crossed at exactly 90 degrees. This can not be achieved with a “cone filter” design, as air would cross the filter at an angle. Ever asked yourself why the top motorsport cars use panel filter designs, when not constarined by packaging? Now you got it!
MAF Sensor Housing
Unique to PIRAS Motorsport Airbox Intake AirBox kit is also the “HP MJF” 3D Printed MAF Sensor Housing: thanks to its perfect dimensional accuracy, it enables the cleanest sensor readings possible, for consistent tuning and repeatable operation with no issues.
The design allows for seamless bonding with the rear AirBox duct, and a number of features that render it 100% identical to the OEM MAF Sensor Housing, for the most accurate readings possible.
The Picture below illustrates the latest version from March 2026, with added bracket to plug in the OEM MAF Sensor wiring harness. No technical modifications were done.
MADE IN ITALY
The Airbox is Made in Italy, Turin, and is industrially thermoformed in plastic. It features a sheet metal lower bracket that mates perfectly with the OEM mounting points.
No modifications are necessary for installation, that can be performed in less than 30 minutes with simple hand tools.
No corners are cut when engineering, developing and producing our products!!
This Airbox is intended as a Motorsport product, for OFF-ROAD USE ONLY!!

Adriano James PIRAS
After taking a BA in Economics and working at Alfa Romeo in global sales, then in corporate consulting, I decided to risk everything and set out to find my path as a rally car driver. With fewer sponsors than needed, I still managed to race in various Italian and European races, up to the Rally of Sanremo 2007, where I won all GT categories driving a Porsche Cayman Rally GT car. From there, I was invited in Prodrive to join as works driver in the WRC-2 championship driving Subaru, as they would have covered half the costs, but I didn’t reach my side of the financial budget.
I continued driving in both rally and circuit cars mainly for suspension development, working with Bilstein partners and many other brands in tuning suspension and whole car development, that was also carried out in my own avantgarde tuning workshop based in Milan, called AJPerformance.
I spent the last 12 years in general management of corporate engineering companies, working with the most prestigious OEM's on the development of road, race and few-off cars, helping initiate and support the technical development of some of the best vehicles currently built across Europe.
